Senior Technical Consultant

Summary

itgroove is a young and dynamic company that is enjoying exciting growth in our SharePoint and Microsoft Infrastructure practices. We are seeking a person with strong technical and consulting skills and appropriate experience to help round out our Senior Consultant team.

The Job – Senior Technical Consultant

The job can be complex as you deal with the technology needs of offices as small as five people to those of multi-nationals. You will need to work in concert with our other senior staff to ensure service and consulting delivery to our SMB client base is second to none. Crazy scheduling shouldn’t scare you as recognizing the need to work to client’s schedules rather than your own is one of the fundamentals of the job. And mentoring junior staff should come naturally to you as it is a key to success for the company as a whole. The job is a 50/50 split between consulting – working with customers to discover and define their technology needs and scoping out the products and processes to meet those needs – and providing high-level technical support to customers on an ongoing basis. You need to be able to see “the bigger picture” and be able to communicate it to your clients and colleagues. In many cases you help define our clients “technology envelopes” for years to come so you have a direct impact on their continuing success.

The Successful Candidate - You

You are dedicated to seeing your clients and colleagues succeed and enjoy working as part of a team. You thrive in a fast paced and ever changing environment where no two days are ever exactly the same. You live and breathe business-oriented technology and you can’t wait to provide your professional expertise to our global client base as well as to our local business clients. You have 10 years or more experience in IT and a technology-related diploma or degree. You should have previous exposure to third-party business IT consulting and support as ours is a very different world to that of internal company IT. Current knowledge of the Microsoft Server products stack is mandatory as is knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), storage technologies (SAN, NAS, iSCSI), security technologies (firewalls, anti-virus), backup technologies (BackupExec, VEEAM) and networking technologies and you have one or more current Microsoft certifications. The ability to communicate effectively with your colleagues and business clients is crucial so it is mandatory that you have excellent written and oral communication skills. The ability to effectively organize and prioritize your time (and sometimes others) is crucial.

You may have (but don’t require) other vendor certifications. Experience with SharePoint and/or other current web technologies would be a major asset.
